Numerical Simulation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS). Havanaʹs Traditional Malecon.
Keywords:
urbanization, floods, SUDSAbstract
The increase in urbanization leads to stormwater drainage systems being insufficient for evacuating intense rainfall, causing recurrent pluvial flooding. In response to this situation, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) emerge as an innovative solution that mimics the hydrological cycle and enhances the urban environment. The research addresses the numerical simulation of the stormwater drainage network in two areas of the Traditional Malecón in Havana, evaluating its hydraulic performance of the network for return periods of 5 and 50 years, considering both current conditions and a proposed solution based on the implementation of SUDS.
