Program to determine the parameters that characterize the marine waves and simulate their behavior
Keywords:
wave energy, waves, parameters, software, coastal zone of Santiago de CubaAbstract
The waves energy let get electricity from kinetic energy contained in the sea waves. Certain localities of the coastal zone of Santiago de Cuba offer potentialities to exploit this resource. The objective is to present a software implemented in Matlab 2015, to determine, based on dissimilar wind speeds and directions, the parameters that characterize wave behavior, generate a 3D animated simulation where the behavior of this is reproduced and determine the Linear power density, kW/m, taking those with the highest incidence in the El Sardinero area. The "Niord" software was designed and its accuracy was verified by comparison with recorded data, obtaining values similar to those reported in a meteorological station.
