Primeros resultados de la red actual de monitoreo hidrometeorológico de Cuenca, Ecuador
Abstract
El monitoreo hidrometeorológico es básico para lograr un adecuado manejo y conservación delos recursos hídricos, así como para conocer el funcionamiento de sistemas de drenaje o para
establecer un sistema de alerta temprana. En la ciudad de Cuenca existen algunas redes de
monitoreo hidrometeorológico, siendo la más importante la de la Empresa Pública Municipal de
Telecomunicaciones, Agua Potable, Alcantarillado y Saneamiento de Cuenca (ETAPA EP). En
los últimos años se ejecutó un plan de modernización y mejoramiento de la red
hidrometeorológica de ETAPA EP, que ha posibilitado que la mayoría de estaciones transmitan
datos prácticamente en tiempo real con lo que se visualiza y analiza la información
hidrometeorológica de forma instantánea permitiendo generar alertas para tomar precauciones
ante posibles inundaciones.
