Froude, Manning y Reynolds aportan a la hidráulica en el siglo XIX
Abstract
Conocer la historia y las circunstancias en la que determinados acontecimientos científicos tienen
lugar, resulta imprescindible para comprenderlos mejor. Ocurre con cierta frecuencia que
importantes aportes son atribuidos a quienes no los establecieron. Sin pretender cambiar esa
realidad, se considera importante conocer la verdad. En este artículo, se dan a conocer los
verdaderos aportes de tres ingenieros británicos del siglo XIX: William Froude, Robert Manning
y Osborne Reynolds que en el marco de la llamada Revolución Industrial, hacen importantes
contribuciones al desarrollo de la hidráulica. Sus nombres, en algunos casos con toda justicia y
en otros no tanto, están indisolublemente ligados a la historia de la Ingeniería Hidráulica.
