Defective HDPE pipe joints and their causes
Keywords:
defective joints, butt fusion thermofusion weldingAbstract
In this work, the most frequent defects observed in the joints of HDPE pipes, welded by butt thermofusion, in two works in the province of Camagüey are identified and their causes are determined through the statistical analysis of records in works and inspections, the comparison values obtained from the recommended welding parameters with the employed. It was determined that the main causes of the appearance of the defects shown are: an excess of manometric pressure, temperature and time of formation of the initial bead applied, due to violating the requirements of the required procedure or not adapting these to the specific environmental conditions of Cuba and the characteristics of HDPE pipes of national production.
