Clasificación de tormentas tropicales según lluvias asociadas: (2) resultados
Abstract
La alta frecuencia conque Cuba es azotada por tormentas tropicales hace que la población cubana siga las informaciones del departamento de pronósticos del Instituto de Meteorología junto con las orientaciones del Estado Mayor Nacional de la Defensa Civil, que planifican medidas de protección para mitigar los desastres. Dichas informaciones abordan básicamente la intensidad de los vientos, pero acerca de las lluvias y sus consecuentes inundaciones, la información es muy pobre. Los autores del presente trabajo ofrecen un primer acercamiento a una escala de clasificación de las tormentas tropicales atendiendo a las lluvias asociadas, considerando solo variables de lluvia propiamente, quedando otras variables que inciden en la magnitud de las inundaciones, como las vinculadas al suelo, su uso y otras, para análisis posteriores que permitirán obtener mejores criterios de clasificación.
