Abstract

The objective of this work was “to evaluate three flows and doses of irrigation, in open and closed furrows, to determine the best indicators of quality of irrigation performance, in vertisols”. The investigations were carried out in block 0-68, Jaronú variety (60–5), net area of 49.52ha, and slope 0.001m/m, at the U. Noris Sugar Company in Holguín. Using the Kostiakov-Lewis infiltration model, flows of 3.2, 4.3 and 5 L/s were evaluated for irrigation doses of 35, 40 and 45 mm, applying the conditions: “partial and total satisfaction of the irrigation dose (Zr ) downstream”. For both open and closed furrows, a significant reduction in infiltration times was obtained, and together with this, higher values of efficiencies in the irrigation event.
